As the series repeatedly shows, droids are incapable of processing human emotions, a weakness that inevitably proves to be their downfall. It’s fitting then that the droid is taken down by the Twi’lek people after he threatens to kill Numa.

To complicate matters, the weapon is being guarded with the help of a tactical droid (this episode marks the debut of this type of droid), a super smart machine that can calculate almost any outcome to a battle. The other storyline follows Obi-wan as he finds his path to the weapon blocked by a shield of Twi’lek hostages. Incidentally, Numa appears as an adult in the second and third seasons of Star Wars: Rebels. It’s an adorable story but also a sad reminder of the consequences of war, particularly when Numa shows the clones what’s left of her family home. They can’t communicate with each other due to a language barrier, so most of the story sees the clones attempting to talk with the little girl. The story is split into several storylines but the most important follows two clone troopers, Waxer and Boil, who come across a young orphaned girl named Numa. Each episode takes place from a different perspective this episode follows Obi-wan and his squad of clone troopers as they attempt to sabotage a Separatist weapon and reclaim the home of the Twi’lek people.

Innocents of Ryloth was the twentieth episode of the first season of The Clone Wars and is the middle installment in the Battle of Ryloth arc (which also includes Storm Over Ryloth and Liberty on Ryloth). We return with the episode Innocents of Ryloth, which originally aired back in 2009… The story takes place during the Clone Wars, with the Jedi-led clone army facing off against the droid armies of the Separatist Alliance. With the announcement of a surprise seventh season by Disney, The Digital Fix will be revisiting the animated series, looking back at the most important episodes and story arcs of the show’s five seasons, highlighting the elements that made this show so beloved by Star Wars fans. Ten years ago, George Lucas and Dave Filoni introduced the world to Star Wars: The Clone Wars, an animated series that filled in the gap between Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Rebecca O’Brien looks back at one of her favourite episodes of The Clone Wars season one.
